24 Jun

Eloise Mumford plays Lena Landry in The River. We can’t wait to get to know her character. Lena is billed as “sexy and resourceful.” We also know that Eloise was the first cast in the show.

Here is a list of some of the Twitter accounts associated with the show:

Jeff Galfer

This is part 2 of our interview with Jeff Galfer, who plays Sammy Kirsch on The River. Previously, we talked about how he was cast and what to expect from Sammy. We also excerpted a conversation from Galfer to confirm that Luisana Lopilato is NOT on The River.

Paulina Gaitan stars as Jahel in The River

Paulina Gaitan Ruiz

The River will have wide international appeal with stars like Paulina Gaitan (Mexico), Joe Anderson (England), Luisana Lopilato (Argentina), Bruce Greenwood (Canada), Leslie Hope (Canada), Paul Blackthorne (England), Shaun Parkes (England), Daniel Zacapa (Honduras), Eloise Mumford (US), and Jeff Galfer (US). Stars like Gaitan and Lopilato are not yet well-known in the US, but they bring a strong international fan base.

Paulina Gaitan will play Jahel. Her character is a local girl with great mechanical skills. She is very skeptical of the rescue mission because she knows that nobody comes back from that area of the river, called Boiúna. Jahel only speaks Portuguese.

Outside of The River, Gaitan is known for her roles in Sin Nombre, Trade, and We Are What We Are.

– Update –

We forgot Thomas Kretschmann from Germany!

The Twilight Saga’s Joe Anderson stars as Lincoln Cole

Joe Anderson, from the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 1 & 2, stars as Lincoln Cole in The River. We don’t know much about his character yet, except that he felt distanced from his father, Emmet. Lincoln seems to have gladly moved on when his father goes missing, and he seems all too bothered when his mother Tess tries to convince him that Emmet is still alive.

I’m sure that Lincoln will be among the most interesting characters in The River, because he is a doubter. A doubter in himself, his father and his mother. He is also a skeptic when it comes to the “magic” of the Amazon. Lincoln will likely be our most transformative character. He will give up his heavy drinking and meandering ways to become a believer.

Will it last? Or, Are you sure this won’t be cancelled?

Paulina Gaitan stars in the River

Paulina Gaitan stars as Jahel

We all hope that our time is not wasted. And so when we pour ourselves into a promising show, we hope that it’s not going to be cancelled due to the whims of the big networks.

I believe that The River is different. ABC has cancelled enough good shows like V, FlashForward, and Invasion and they are ready for something with a future. Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks are behind this show, along with some great writers from Paranormal Activity. Add in the acting props of Bruce Greenwood, Luisana Lopilato, and Leslie Cole, and you have something very special.

Still, networks have done stupider things (how could Fox cancel Arrested Development!?), and I don’t like that this is a midseason show. January / February is not traditionally the best time to launch a show.

I’m starting to see a large group of fans for The River even before the first promo has aired on television. This COULD be the next Lost. Let’s hope it has its own legs. Stay tuned!
